Just a few hours ago I learned to know through wordpress.com, that the great side bar widgets facility they have published at their blog service platform the other days is now available as a separate and free plugin. That widget facility is a great enhancement for the most convenient blog layout setup one can imagine, if you keep in mind that there are people out there who don’t talk PHP and HTML as fluently as their native languages ;) It incorporates a simple drag and drop area, where you can configure your sidebar design by simply dragging and dropping the different available sidebar areas in place just where you want them to stay. My Binary Blue Wordpress theme suite approaches Version 1.0. This evening I implemented a fully configurable and degradable AJAX enhanced paged comments feature - the most important task I still had on my must-have todo list ;) You can see the first early and fully functional version onsite. Just visit the posts or pages with more than ten comments, and you will be able to see it in action (e.g. directly on the theme’s main page, or on my recent post about the severe Safari security issue. I have used this evening, once again, to create another new scheme for the Binary Blue theme engine. The new creation named “Simply Blue” is a rather basic one - all images used by this scheme sum up to exactly 2,063 byte (!) - the stylesheet file itself is about ten times larger ;) Kompletten Post lesen

Christ Campbell demonstrates how to pimp the Lightbox JS script to the max - his version can not only enlarge picture thumbnails but is useful for form popups and important text passage popups as well. It utilizes the Prototype.js framework and can make use of AJAX and stuff and is quite web-2.0-ish ;). An online demo is available here.
