This evening I’ve sucessfully upgraded my local blog installation to the latest release of WordPress, 2.5, which has been published just a couple of days ago. Installation / upgrade have performed without any issues, since I deactivated all my plugins prior to uploading the new code to the webserver.
There are tiny incompliances with a few less popular plugins (unfortunately, some of them haven’t been updated by their authors for more than a year, so when I wanna have them back, it’ll be up to me to dig into the code and finde the issues’ causes), but in general, the upgrade does not impose any nasty issues.
Especially I am very happy to now publically announce that my still-latest release 1.4.2 of my popular theme suite named Binary Blue is fully compliant to WordPress 2.5. At least I could not find any issues until now, so I am pretty sure there are no larger drawbacks. Anyways, it’s safe to upgrade your blogs, worst things which could happen are that a few of the widgets I supply with the theme suite could stop working. But since there are hundreds of widgets available nowadays, it’s very unlikely that you wouldn’t find any suitable replacements for them.
