Microsoft has published the first patch for their upcoming next Windows release named Vista – quite some time before the final version is even released (publishing date is planned somewhere in december 2006 for corporate accounts and at the beginning of 2007 for the customer retail market).
Okay, granted, this patch has its reasons – it fixes certain problems between Symantecs AntiVirus v10.0.1.622 and Windows Vista Beta 2 – but still there’s some bad taste left in the mouth – a fix for a beta release? Sounds as if it’s already used in productive environments on a large scale, otherwise I can’t imagine why a patch like this one should be that important.

it may look strange, but the reasons are even stupider.
Symantec is pissed that MS is including its own Firewall that whoops Norton’s ass, so they raised some legal ruckus, and MS pacified them by “patching” the BS problem.
